'Red Citrus Energiser' Iced Tea Recipe

This iced tea recipe createa an energising blend that includes the zesty flavours of apple, eucalyptus, hibiscus flowers and lemongrass.  It infuses to a beautiful dark pink colour and is a very refreshing, lively iced tea with a mellow sweetness.

  • Low in sugar (the only sugar comes from the added Cranberry Juice.

To make one glass:

You will need:

  • 2tsps 'Red Citrus Zing' Herbal Infusion
  • 1/2 tsp Stevia leaves
  • 1/4 Cup Cranberry Juice (We used McCoys)
  • Lemon Juice

Put 2 teaspoons of 'Red Citrus Zing' and 1/2 tsp Stevia leaves together into a 250ml mug using a tea strainer or infuser.  Pour boiled water over the leaves and leave to infuse for 5-10 minutes, then remove the infuser, cover the tea and cool in the fridge.

When the tea is cool and you are ready to continue making your iced tea, put a good handful of ice into a tall glass (approximately 400mls).  Pour the now cool naturally sweetened Red Citrus Zing infusion over the top of the ice, add 1/4 cup of cranberry juice and a squeeze of lemon juice over the top.

If you are too impatient to wait for the tea to cool down, you can use it straight away and just use a bigger glass with more ice.  But the ice will melt quicker and the flavours will be diluted.

To make one Jug:

This recipe was made using our 1.5L Iced Tea Jugs, which has a built in infuser.

You will need:

  • 8-9tsps 'Red Citrus Zing' Herbal Infusion
  • 2.5 tsps Stevia leaves
  • 315mls Cranberry Juice (We used McCoys)
  • Juice of half a Lemon

Put 8 or 9 teaspoons of 'Red Citrus Zing' and 2.5 teaspoons of the Stevia leaves into the infuser section of the Iced Tea Jug.   Pour 5 cups (250ml sized cups) of boiled water over the leaves and leave to infuse for 5-10 minutes, then remove the infuser, close the lid of the Jug and cool in the fridge.

When the tea is cool and you are ready to continue making your iced tea, pour in approximately 315mls (About a cup and a quarter) of cranberry Juice into the jug with the infused tea.  Then add the juice of 1/2 a lemon or more to taste.

You can add some ice to the top of the jug if you wish, or serve in glasses that have plenty of ice in them.

You will get approximatley 4-5 large glasses of tea from this jug.

Variations:

If you wish to have a nearly sugar free (I say nearly because there is apple and beetroot in the original infusion, and they have small amounts of natural sugars), version of this just leave out the cranberry juice.
