Assam Margherita

Assam is a province in northeastern India and has a tropical climate ideal for growing tea.  Half of the tea produced in India is grown here making it the largest tea-growing region in the world.

Assam teas have a strong and spicy flavour and withstand hard water well.

Typically described as a "Dark infusion, strong in flavour, with a full spicy and malty character".

Assam tea is often used in popular blends due to the full bodied richness.  You will commonly find Assam in Irish tea blends due to the extra malty flavour.

The leaves can be distinguished as Assam through the distinctive flecked brown and gold leaf tips when dried.

Assam is perfect for people who enjoy a stronger cup of tea.

The Margherita tea plantation was founded in 1884 near the city of Margherita named after a former Italian queen.

Well shaped fine leaves with the distinct golden tips develops a dark cup and a strong spicy scent and flavour that lingers on the tongue.

Leaf cut is GFBOP (Golden Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe). Click here for more info on Assam tea grading.
