Matcha Frappe Recipe

A great way to continue to get the great health benefits of Matcha green tea in the summer is to drink it cold!

There are many ways to do this, and you can simply just chill your normal hot matcha and drink with ice.

But Matcha tastes great mixed with milk or a milk alternative too and is fabulous blended with ice.

Try this easy recipe below for a healthy frothy Matcha Frappe which is the ideal summer drink!  This will make you a large glass full approximately 450mls.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp of aaah! Tea’s Matcha Powder.
  • 1/4 cup hot water (not boiling)
  • 2 tsp of honey, sugar syrup or other sweetner of your choice.
  • 1/2 cup milk or milk alternative (like rice or soy milk)
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes.

You will also need a blender.

Instructions:

Mix matcha powder first in a small bowl or glass with the hot water until the powder is dissolved.  It is best to do this as it prevents lumps of matcha powder in your frappe. 

Stir in the sweetner of your choice into the hot matcha liquid. (Again it is good to do this at this stage so your sweetner melts in the hots water.

Pour Milk and the matcha liquid into your blender.

Add ice cubes and blend in a blender until smooth.

Now enjoy!

Notes:

You can adjust the quantities to your taste and you don't have to add a sweetner.  The natural sweetness of the milks can be enough for some people, while others like to have the sweet flavour to balance the green tea.

Also the more ice you add the more frozen or solid your drink will be.  For a more liquid drink just add more milk and less ice.
